Our Ministries

The School Sisters of Notre Dame have answered a call for women to make a difference in the world…and we ARE making a difference.

Part of our ministry is to live community. Life in the SSND faith community is a giving and receiving of love and respect, a living together in trust, openness, sincerity, and forgiveness.

Within this community we are women of prayer. Prayer is the heart and source of our union with God. Prayer brings focus to our personal and community life.

The School Sisters of Notre Dame are also educators. For us, education means enabling persons to reach the fullness of their potential, helping them to develop a global vision based on Christian values. While initially the congregation focused on teaching young women in Catholic Schools, SSND ministries have expanded and changed along with the world. This includes ministry work in schools, parishes, social service, justice and peace work, and working with other cultures, both at home and abroad. Currently we have Canadian Sisters ministering in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Ontario, Northwest Territories, England, Africa and Italy.
