SSNDs Celebrate 70, 60 and 50 years
of vowed religious life
WATERDOWN, Ont. – On July 31, 2007, ten School Sisters of Notre Dame celebrated their jubilee anniversaries of religious profession with companion Sisters and Associates at the Motherhouse in Waterdown, Ontario.
The Jubilarians are (from left to right) S. Mary Margaret Liethen (50), S. Mary Norma Schmidt (50), S. Margaret Volk (60), S. Therese Messner (60), S. Eleanor Olinski (70), S. Mary Geraldine Collins (70), S. Estelle Malleck (70), S. Gloria Seifried (60), S. Mary Rosanne Morgan (50) and S. Doreen Swift (50).
The celebration began with Eucharist. Associates and Sisters waved ribbons to set a joyful tone. A formal dinner followed and then an afternoon of socializing and enjoying the music of a steel band continued the celebration.
The School Sisters of Notre Dame is an international community of vowed women religious in mission. Sisters in this group of Jubilarians are in ministry in London, England; Chetwynd, BC; Fort St. John, BC; Kitchener, Ont.; Hamilton, Ont.; and Waterdown, Ont. Together with more than 3,500 Sisters globally, they dedicate their lives to transforming the world through education, especially by empowering women, children, and persons who are poor.
