The School Sisters of Notre Dame
Celebrate Jubilees for 2006
August 29, 2006
On August 15, 2006, ten School Sisters of Notre Dame of the Canadian Province celebrated the Jubilees of their religious profession. Sisters and Associates ranging from Ontario, Western Canada, England, Italy, Peru and the USA joined them for this celebration at the Motherhouse in Waterdown, Ontario.
The Jubilarians are (back, left to right) Sisters Theresa Nagle (25 years), Doreen Schommer (60 years), Jean Hartleib (60 years), M. Rosalie Reitzel (60 years), Jude Marie Sweeney (50 years); and in the front (left to right) Sisters M. Armella Specht (70 years), M. Lucille Goetz (70 years), and Carol Koebel (70 years). Sisters M. Charlotte Brunck (75 years) and Mildred Straus (60 years) were absent for this photo.
The School Sisters of Notre Dame is an international community of vowed women religious in mission. Together with more than 4,000 sisters worldwide, they live out their charism: to empower women, children, and persons who are poor, through education understood in the broadest sense of the word. The ministries of this group of Jubilarians illustrate the broad understanding of educational ministries as well as the international character of the congregation. Represented within this group are educational, health care, social justice, and pastoral ministries that have spanned four continents: Latin America, Europe, Africa and North America over a total of 600 years.
